What's the Triple Credit tariff?

Introduction to our Triple Credit tariff

Our Triple Credit gives you free credit when you top-up. We triple top-ups of £10, £15 and £20, giving you free credit that you can use on standard UK calls, texts and data usage. The free credit is given on a monthly basis and lasts a month.

How much free credit do I get?

This table shows the amount of free credit you could get:

The total amount you top-up in a month, will determine how much free credit you’ll receive next month. The maximum free credit you can receive in a month will be £40 for a £20 or more top up.

How long will my free credit last for?

Your free credit lasts for one month (and you can only get free credit once a month).

For example: if you get your first free credit on 5th January, you've got until midnight on the 4th February to use it.

Free credit lasts until your next monthly anniversary date and any unused free credit will expires.  If you’ve topped-up before your anniversary date, then you’ll receive free credit again next month.  The free credit will start from your monthly anniversary date.

Remember, credit from top-ups will never expire.

What's used up first, my free credit or my real credit?

For UK calls, texts, picture messaging and internet browsing, any available free credit gets used up before the top-up you paid for.

What can I use my free credit for?

Free credit can be used on the following:

  • UK calls to standard UK landlines and mobiles.
  • UK mobile internet browsing.
  • UK calls starting 01, 02, 03 numbers only 07 (with exceptions below).
  • UK to UK video calls.
  • Text messages to UK mobiles.
  • UK calls to Customer Service.
  • MMS (Long text, Picture and Video messages) to UK mobiles.
  • UK calls to Voicemail.

You will be charged if you use your phone on;

  • Calls made whilst on holiday abroad (roaming).
  • Traffic Line.
  • Calls / text made to any international number from the UK.
  • Ping me a Pound.
  • Premium rate calls or Directory Enquiries.
  • 08 numbers max call charge of 20p per minute.
  • 070 personal numbers maximum call charge of cost 50p per minute from a Tesco Mobile.
  • Calls to any number ranges which Tesco Mobile reasonably believes are being used for call forwarding services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share.
  • Calls to any of the numbers starting with the prefixes below:
  • 06, 07744, 0845, 079112, 070, 07755, 0870, 079118, 076, 078255, 0871, 079245, 0500, 078730, 077000, 079246, 0505, 07892, 07755, 079879, 0808, 078930.

How do I get Triple Credit?

To ensure you're on the correct tariff please call 282 free from your Tesco Mobile phone.

You'll get triple your credit on top-ups of £10, £15 and £20. 

For example top-up £10 in a month and you get £20 of free credit, tripling it to £30 credit. 

Do I receive free credit on every top-up?

When you start using a new SIM (or if you have missed your last monthly anniversary date and are topping-up to restart your free credit) only the first top-up will count towards that month's allowance.

For example: You top-up with £10 at 10:30am and then top-up a further £10 on the same day at 10:50am, you'll receive £20 free credit on your monthly anniversary date (not £40 free credit). The second £10 will be counted towards next month’s free credit so you won’t miss out.

Can I keep my credit when I move to the Triple Credit tariff?

Once you've decided to switch to Pay as you go with free credit, you'll be moved to the new tariff within 48 hours.

If you have any minutes and text remaining on you current tariff, they won't be carried over. The call rates may also differ slightly.

Can I change back to my original tariff?

Because the Pay as you go with free credit tariff is such great value, you won’t be able to move back to your previous tariff.  

I’m an existing customer and would like to get free credit can I switch?

To switch to the Pay as you go with free credit tariff either;

  1. Log into My Tesco Mobile Log in 
  2. By texting CREDIT to 28745 free (from your Tesco Mobile phone).
  3. Or call 284 free (from your Tesco Mobile phone) and follow the prompts.

Will my call charges change if I move to Triple credit tariff?

Your call charges will remain the same if you're moving from our Standard or Standard Plus tariff.

If you're on any other tariff, your call charges may differ. Details of all our call charges can be found in our 'Help and support' section.

When do I get my free credit?

How do I find out when I need to top-up by, to get free credit next month?

The date you need to top-up by is called your monthly anniversary date.  To find out your monthly anniversary date either;

  1. Log into My Tesco Mobile Log in 
  2. Then go to 'My Tariff', and your anniversary date will be shown there.
  3. You can text the word 'DATE' to 28746.
  4. Or call 28746 free (from your Tesco Mobile phone) and follow the prompts.

You need to top-up before your monthly anniversary date in order to get free credit starting from the anniversary date.

What is my monthly anniversary date?

Your monthly anniversary date is the date by which;

  • You have to use up any free credit you have left.
  • Also, the date you need to top-up before, so you get free credit next month.

To find out your monthly anniversary date either;

  1. Log into My Tesco Mobile Log in 
  2. Then go to 'My Tariff', and your anniversary date will be shown there.
  3. Or call 282 free (from your Tesco Mobile phone) and follow the prompts.

How do I find out how much free credit I have left?

Only your top-up credit shows on your balance. 

Just text the word BALANCE to 2112 free (from your Tesco mobile phone), and we’ll text you back letting you know the amount of free credit you have left.

I've just moved to the Triple Credit tariff, when will I receive my free credit?

You will receive your free credit within 48 hours, if you top-up on the day you move to the Pay as you go with free credit tariff.  We'll send you a text to let you know it's been added.

If you top-up after that day, you won't receive you free credit until the following month.

Troubleshooting

I've topped-up on my monthly anniversary date - why haven't I received my free credit?

You need to top-up before your monthly anniversary date.  Don't worry, you'll still be given free credit within 48 hours and we'll send you a text to let you know your new monthly anniversary date.

I topped-up before moving to the Triple Credit tariff, will I still get my free credit?

Because you topped-up before switching to the Pay as you go with free credit tariff, you won't receive your free credit until the next time you top-up.

I don't top-up before my monthly anniversary date, or don't top-up for a while?

We'll send you a text 5 days before your monthly anniversary date as a reminder, if you haven't topped-up.  Don't worry, if you don't top-up you can still carry on using your phone as normal - you just won’t be benefiting from free credit. 

You'll be given free credit again when you next top-up and it will be added within 48 hours.  The date your free credit is given again will then become your new monthly anniversary date for the following month.

Free bundles when you top-up £15 or more

From 1st May 2012, if you top-up £15 or more in a month on our Triple Credit tariff, we'll give you one of our £5 bundles for free. You can choose from 150 minutes, 5000 texts or 500MB to be applied on the same date as your monthly anniversary date.  Click here for full details.
