    • These Terms & Conditions set out the terms under which Tesco Stores Limited ("Tesco"), provides you with the ability to make calls using either Tesco's physical pre-paid phone cards (“Tesco Calling Card(s)”) or through the Tesco calling card mobile phone application (the “App”) (together referred to throughout these terms as "Tesco Calling Card Services".

      References to "we", "us" and "our" are to Tesco and we refer to you as "you" and "your".

      Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully as they affect your rights and liabilities under the law and the terms governing your use of Tesco's Calling Card Services. By using Tesco Calling Card Services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

      In these Terms & Conditions some words begin with capital letters because they are definitions. See paragraph 11 for a list of these words and which paragraphs to go to in the Terms & Conditions to look up their meaning.

  • 1. What are Tesco Calling Cards?
    • 1.1 Tesco Calling Card Services are initially zero valued and you can add Credits (as defined below) to either a Tesco Calling Card or to the App by purchasing a voucher of a certain monetary value, to enable you to make national and international phone calls from landlines, mobile phones and payphones.

      1.2 Tesco Calling Card Services come in a variety of monetary values ("Credit(s)"). Please see the FAQs for the details of the top-up amounts we currently offer.

      1.3 Each time you make a call there are the following three parts to the process:

      a. The access number: this is a UK geographical number, which you will need to dial when using the Tesco Calling Cards or will be automatically dialled when using the App. We do not charge you for this part of the call, but your phone provider may, as they would if you were making a call to UK landline. These calls are commonly included in your inclusive minute bundles and are free from Tesco Mobile.

      b. The “Connection Charge”: this is a one off 4p charge each time you use Tesco Calling Card Services and covers the costs of our UK switching equipment. Exceptions apply: see clause 3.7.

      c. The “Call Rates”: these are minute plus minute rates charged for calling the specified country and will vary depending on whether you are calling a mobile or landline. Please click here for Call Rates as published and updated from time to time. In the event of a conflict between any Call Rates set out on tescocallingcard.com and any call rates set out on any Tesco Calling Card or in any other media, the Call Rates set out on tescocallingcard.com shall take precedence.

      1.4 For further information on how to use your Tesco Calling Card Services, please see How it works.

  • 2. Validity Period
    • 2.1 Except as set out at paragraph 2.2, Credits (whether available on your Tesco Calling Cards or the App) purchased as a:

      (a) Top-up of existing card through IVR; or

      (b)Top-up of existing card in-store; or

      (c) Top-up of existing card online at tescocallingcard.com.

      are valid for 90 days from the time of purchase ("Validity Period"). After the Validity Period, you will still be able to use your Tesco Calling Cards or the App but you will lose any remaining Credit and you will need to re-Credit your Tesco Calling Card or enter a new voucher code to make calls via the App. Within the Validity Period, the 90 days will re-start from the date of re-Credit. You can re-Credit your Tesco Calling Card or enter a new voucher code to make calls via the App as many times as you like.

      2.2 Except as set out at paragraph 2.1, Credits (whether available on your Tesco Calling Cards or the App) purchased as an:

      (a) E-voucher purchased in-store; or

      (b) E-voucher purchased online at tescocallingcard.com

      are valid for 90 days from the time of first use or redemption ("Validity Period"). After the Validity Period, you will still be able to use your Tesco Calling Cards or the App but you will lose any remaining Credit and you will need to re-Credit your Tesco Calling Card or enter a new voucher code to make calls via the App. Within the Validity Period, the 90 days will re-start from the date of re-Credit. You can re-Credit your Tesco Calling Card or enter a new voucher code to make calls via the App as many times as you like.

  • 3. Call Rates

    • 3.1 Please click here for Call Rates. In the event of a conflict between any Call Rates set out on tescocallingcard.com and any call rates set out on any Tesco Calling Card or in any other media, the Call Rates set out on tescocallingcard.com shall take precedence.

      3.1a Each time you use Tesco Calling Card Services, the Credit on your Tesco Calling Card or App will be reduced by the charges incurred, calculated by Tesco applying and deducting the total of the Call Rates and the Connection Charge (as defined at paragraph 1.3b. above) and any Surcharge (as defined at paragraph 3.2 below).

      3.2 All calls using the Tesco Calling Card Services are charged in one minute increments, rounded up to the nearest minute. In addition to the Connection Charge and the Call Rates (as respectively defined at paragraphs 1.3b. and 1.3c. above), some calls (for example, calls using the 0800 access number or from a BT payphone) have an additional charge referred to as a “Surcharge(s)”; for details of all Surcharges, please see our FAQs.

      3.3 We will not charge you for calling our geographic access numbers (such as 0207 097 2468). However, you may incur charges from your phone service provider so please contact them to check whether this is the case and, if so, familiarise yourself with the charges which apply.

      3.4 Call Rates and Connection Charges and Surcharges are subject to change at any time.

      3.5 Every effort is made to ensure that Call Rates and Connection Charges and Surcharges are correct and up to date. Please click here for the most up to date Call Rates and Connection Charges and Surcharges before you make a call as you will be charged at the then current rates listed at the time you make your call.

      3.6 All Call Rates, Connection Charges and Surcharges include VAT.

      3.7 Calls made via the App are not subject to 4p Connection Charge.

  • 4. No Refund
    • 4.1 If your Tesco Calling Card or your landline telephone or any mobile phone through which you access the App from time to time is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed or is otherwise is rendered unusable (and you do not know the PIN) you will lose any remaining Credit to use the Tesco Calling Card Services. If the Tesco Calling Card Services are used in an unauthorised manner, we are not able to provide you with a refund of any Credit used in such manner.

      4.2 In addition, as stated in paragraph 2 above, you will lose any remaining Credit to use the Tesco Calling Card Services after the Validity Period expires.

  • 5. Restrictions
    • 5.1 You cannot use the Tesco Calling Card Services for calling premium rate numbers or some non-geographic numbers (for example, 090). Whilst you can use the Tesco Calling Card Services to call the Emergency Services, we advise that you do not do so.

      5.2 The Tesco Calling Card Services are intended by us to be used in the United Kingdom. If you access Tesco Calling Card Services from other jurisdictions, you do so at your own risk and potential additional cost, and you are responsible for your own compliance with local law.

  • 6. Availability of Services

    • 6.1 When we provide you with the Tesco Calling Card Services, we will use the reasonable skill and care of a competent service provider, but we cannot guarantee that the Tesco Calling Card Services will always be fault-free. Some things will be out of our control, for example, Tesco Calling Card Services are dependent on network operators and the services of such network operators can be affected by things that we cannot control.

      6.2 Your access to the Tesco Calling Card Services may be occasionally restricted to allow for repairs, maintenance or the introduction of new facilities or services. Your access may also be restricted if we are required to restrict it following instruction from the government, the emergency services or any other competent or lawful authority. In these circumstances, we will attempt to restore the service as soon as we reasonably can. If there is an unusual use of the Tesco Calling Card Services (for example, significantly increased traffic indicating fraudulent use), we may temporarily suspend your use of the Tesco Calling Card Services to prevent you from incurring excessive or unwanted charges.

      6.3 You acknowledge and agree that in order to use the App, you require an active connection to the internet (“Internet Connection”) and if you fail to have Internet Connection you will be unable to use the App to make calls and this is at your own risk and potential additional cost as may be charged by your network provider.

  • 7. Our Responsibility to You
    • 7.1 Nothing in this paragraph 7 shall limit or affect our liability resulting from anything we provide to you being found to be unsafe or if something we do negligently causes death or personal injury.

      7.2 Subject to paragraph 7.1, if we are in breach of these Terms & Conditions, we will only be responsible for any losses that you suffer as a result to the extent that they are a directly foreseeable consequence to both of us at the time you buy the Tesco Calling Card Services. We do not assume any liability for content received from calls made by you using the Tesco Calling Card Services.

      7.3 You acknowledge that we are not responsible for providing (or maintaining) the equipment that you use to access the Tesco Calling Card Services or the national or international telecommunications networks which your calls travel across.

      7.4 The App may contain links to other sites which are outside our control and not covered by these Terms & Conditions. We are not responsible for the content of those sites nor the use of any personal information you submit to those sites.

      7.5 The App may contain advertising and sponsorship. Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for ensuring that material submitted for inclusion on the App complies with relevant laws and codes. We will not be responsible for any error or inaccuracy in advertising and sponsorship material.

      7.6 Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights (which include, for example, that we will provide the Tesco Calling Card Services to a reasonable standard and within a reasonable time). For more information on your statutory rights you can contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards Office.

  • 8. Your Responsibility to Us
    • 8.1 You must not use the Tesco Calling Card Services for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose, to make any communication which is, or is intended to be, malicious, fraudulent or hoax (including to the emergency services) or in any way which may damage or affect the operation of the Tesco Calling Card Services or any other telecommunications system.

      8.2 If you do not comply with this paragraph 8, the Tesco Calling Card Services may be suspended indefinitely and you will compensate us for all liabilities, claims, damages, losses and costs (including legal costs) which we may suffer as a result.

  • 9. Clubcard

    • 9.1 This paragraph is in addition to the terms and conditions of Tesco Clubcard, which can be found at tesco.com/clubcard.

      9.2 Clubcard points are only available on purchases in Tesco stores. Unfortunately, Clubcard points are not available on purchases in One Stop stores, PayPoint outlets, online at tescocallingcard.com or via our automated top-up line.

      9.3 Clubcard vouchers cannot be redeemed via tescocallingcard.com.

      9.4 Unfortunately points cannot be awarded for promotional, free or refunded credit.

  • 10. eCoupons
    • 10.1 Tesco may issue its own eCoupons directly (e.g. via text message or email), through Tesco stores, publications or via third parties. This section sets out the terms and conditions for eCoupons.

      10.2 An eCoupon is a unique electronic coupon that provides the benefits or savings detailed against a code. eCoupons can be redeemed on the checkout page when topping-up/buying a new card on tescocallingcard.com. eCoupons cannot be used in store or via telephone top-up.

      10.3 An eCoupon can only be used either as part payment for the item(s) stated on the eCoupon or in conjunction with the minimum spend threshold stated on the coupon in a single transaction.

      10.4 Unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of issue of the eCoupon: each issued eCoupon will be valid for use by a recipient only once; only one eCoupon will be valid for use per customer or household, as the case may be; and an eCoupon may not be used in conjunction with any other special offer or eCoupon. Even where eCoupons expressly state at the time of issue that they may be used in conjunction with other eCoupons or offers, any eCoupon code beginning XX may not be used in conjunction with any other eCoupon code that also begins XX. Even where eCoupons expressly state at the time of issue that they may be used in conjunction with other eCoupons or offers, any eCoupon code beginning TDX may not be used in conjunction with any other eCoupon code that also begins TDX.

      10.4 If we reasonably believe that there is a breach of security or fraudulent use of eCoupons, we may reject any eCoupon. We reserve the right to withdraw or cancel an eCoupon for any reason at any time.

      10.5 Once you have used an eCoupon once, you cannot use it again unless otherwise stated. eCoupons may require a valid associated Clubcard number or email address to be given. Unless we tell you otherwise on the eCoupon, eCoupons cannot be used in conjunction with other offers. Tesco International Calling Card may cancel and reissue any eCoupons and suspend or change any aspects of the operation of eCoupons at our reasonable discretion.

      10.6 Individual eCoupons may have additional Terms and Conditions which will be published alongside the eCoupon or added to tescocallingcard.com.

      10.7 eCoupons are, and remain at all times, our property.

  • 11. Intellectual Property
    • 11.1 The design of the Tesco Calling Card Services, including the App, and the trademarks, service marks and logos contained therein (“Marks”), are owned by or licensed to us. No licence is granted to you in these Terms and Conditions to use any trade mark of Tesco.com or its affiliated companies including, without limitation, the trade marks TESCO, TESCO.COM and TESCO CLUBCARD.

  • 12. Personal Information

    • 12.1 If you provide personal information to us through using the Tesco Calling Card Services, we will not share it with anyone outside the Tesco Group for marketing purposes. We sometimes use and share anonymised information outside the Tesco Group. However, we would like to reassure you that this never includes your personal information.

      12.2 We will never disclose your information to anyone outside the Tesco Group except where we have your consent; where we are required or permitted to do so by law; to other companies who provide a service to us; or any successors in title to our business. Whenever we transfer personal information to countries outside the European Economic Area we will ensure that appropriate security measures are taken.

      12.3 To obtain a copy of the information we hold about you, write to: Data Protection Officer, Corporate & Legal Affairs, New Tesco House, Delamare Road, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 9SL enclosing a cheque or postal order for £10 payable to "Tesco Stores Limited". Please confirm your Clubcard number and any details to help us identify and locate your information. If any of the details are incorrect, let us know and we will amend them.

  • 13. Marketing and Research
    • 13.1 By using Tesco Calling Card Services, you agree that we may contact you, including via push notifications through the App, with offers and information about our products and services, including the Tesco Calling Card Services. We may contact you with offers and information about our partners’ products or services. We may also contact you through the App for customer research purposes, for example to help us improve our services. Of course, the choice is entirely yours, but if you say you do not want to receive marketing information from us this will prevent you from receiving great offers or promotions that may be of interest to you.

  • 14. General
    • 14.1 If you allow another person to use your Tesco Calling Card Services they will be subject to these Terms & Conditions. We may transfer our rights under these Terms & Conditions to another business where we reasonably believe your rights will not be affected.

      14.2 By using the Tesco Calling Card Services, you represent to us that you are fully able and competent to enter into and abide by these Terms & Conditions.

      14.3 If you breach these Terms & Conditions and we choose to ignore this, we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies at a later date or in any other situation where you breach these Terms & Conditions.

      14.4 We shall not be responsible for any breach of these Terms & Conditions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

      14.5 These Terms & Conditions are subject to English law. We will try to solve any disagreements quickly and efficiently. If you are not happy with the way we deal with any disagreement and you want to take court proceedings, you must do so in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

      14.6 These Terms & Conditions shall constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the Tesco Calling Card Services. If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is deemed invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such provision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms & Conditions, which shall remain in full force and effect.

      14.7 We may modify these Terms & Conditions at any time without notice to you and it is your responsibility to review these Terms & Conditions for any changes. Your continued use of the Tesco Calling Card Services following any amendment of these Terms & Conditions will signify your assent to and acceptance of its revised terms.

      14.8 Except as stated otherwise in this paragraph 14.8, a person who is not a party to these Terms and Conditions shall have no right under the Contract (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of these Terms and Conditions but this shall not affect any right or remedy of a third party which exists or is available apart from that Act. Any member of the Tesco Group may enforce any provision of these terms as if it were a party to these terms.
