HOW IT WORKS

  • What is the Calling Card App?

    • The Tesco Calling Card iPhone app makes international calling easy and convenient. You can register your calling card details to the app and make international calls directly from you iPhone or Android handset without the need to dial an access number or go through the usual voice prompt using the card. Your contacts can be accessed directly from your phone when calling.



  • Can I use the App from ANY phone?
    • The App is currently only available for Apple (iOS) or Google Android Handsets.

  • Can I use the App on my network?
    • The App can be used on any UK Network.

  • How do I top-up the Tesco International Calling Card App?
    • Open the App and go to ‘My Card’, then press the ‘Add Credit’ button. You will then have 3 options:

      1. Top up by credit card – Press this button and you will be asked if you wish to call the automated top up line. Once on this line, please follow the voice prompts to top up for either £5, £10 or £20 which will be charged to the card you are using.

      2. Top up by e-voucher – You can buy a voucher in any Tesco Store for either *£3, £5, £10 or £20. You can also buy a voucher in any shop displaying the PayPoint Logo.

      Once you have your voucher, press the Top up by e-voucher, press ‘call’ and you will be taken through to the voice prompts to activate your voucher.

      *Please note that the £3.00 top-up option is only available in-store.

  • When does the top-up expire?
    • • The top-up expires 90 days after applying it to your App.

      • If you top-up within the 90 days, then the 90 days resets from that date.

      • If you reach 90 days without topping up, then you will lose remaining credit.

  • Does your service always work 24 hours a day 7 days a week?

    • • Yes the service is 24 hours, seven days a week - though no telephony service can offer 100% guaranteed service due to reliance on other telephony companies. We do our best and use quality routes only. We have quality checks in place to help avoid poor quality lines and give you the best possible call experience.

      • If you do happen to experience a poor connection, please call Customer Services on 0845 025 5000 and let us know the number you are trying to call or email care@tescocallingcard.com and we promise to look into it and get back to you. (Please include your 10 digit pin number, which can be found when you press the ‘My Card’ button in your App and your phone number)

  • How do I make a call using the Tesco International Calling Card App?

  • What is the App Access Number?
    • The App Access Number is the telephone number that the App uses to get through to our international telephony service.

  • Can I use the App whilst roaming?

    • We do not recommend this as you may be charged extra for calling the access number while roaming abroad.

CHARGES AND RATES

  • Can I call UK premium numbers or non-geographic numbers via the Tesco International Calling Card App?

    • • 0870, 0845 & 0844 Numbers are charged at 8p per minute.

      • 0800 numbers are charged at 2p per minute.

      • You CANNOT use this service to dial premium rate services.

  • How do I get charged?
    • • You ONLY get charged when your call is connected. This is a charge per minute, rounded up to the nearest minute. To see the latest ‘per minute’ rates to your country, click the ‘Rates’ button in your App and chose the country you wish to see.

      • There is no connection charge for calls made via the Tesco International Calling Card App.

  • Do I get charged by my network when the App calls the Access Number?
    • This is a local number and charged as such, meaning that if you are on an inclusive bundle, calling this number will come off your inclusive minutes. If you are on PAYG or out of bundled minutes, this will be charged by you network provider at their per minute landline rate.

  • Are there any additional charges or surcharges?
